Our Rodent Control Services

Rodent control services through Pest Czar follow a tried and tested three-step process to keep Baltimore properties rodent-free.

Maryland Rodent Inspection

When you call us for rodent control services, one of our technicians will thoroughly inspect your entire home, including the attic, basement, and crawl space (if accessible).

Your technician will pay special attention to areas where activity is suspected, which are typically the exterior perimeter, shed, deck/patio, kitchen perimeter, garage, basements, crawl spaces, and attic, as well as inside appliances, pantry closets, storage spaces, and closets.

If you’ve noticed likely signs of rodent activity, mention them to your technician. Please note: Pest Czar has tools to help us see and reach under appliances, but we will not move appliances. If you would like the technician to look at a certain spot behind or under an appliance, please move it before we arrive.

One of the primary differences in appearance lies in the coloration and size of these mice

Treatment

At Pest Czar, our technicians are thoroughly trained to use numerous methods to treat rat and mice infestations. Depending on your individual needs, your technician will use a combination of methods to address the problem.

Rodent treatment methods and techniques may include some or all of the following:

  • Thorough visual inspection of most common rat or mouse “hot spots” on the interior and exterior of home
  • Documentation and communication of factors that could be conducive to potential rodent activity/entry
  • Interior and/or exterior rodent-proofing/exclusion up to a linear foot (annually) using copper mesh wire, concrete, caulk, hardware cloth, foam, etc.
  • Placement of interior and/or exterior rodent bait stations containing rodent bait
  • Placement and service of mechanical snap traps in areas of identified/suspected rodent activity
  • Placement and service of rodent glue boards
  • Placement and service of interior/exterior rodent bait stations containing rodenticide bait(s)

Signs Of Rodents In Maryland Homes

One of the worst parts about rodents is that infestations can be difficult to identify, allowing them to go on damaging your property for months without your knowledge. With that in mind, it’s important to know the warning signs rodents leave behind so you can get help eliminating them as soon as possible.

Here are some warning signs that your home could have come under rodent infestation.

  • Gnaw marks: Rats and mice have very strong teeth that never stop growing, causing them to constantly gnaw on objects to wear them down. Gnaw marks are usually found in baseboards and wall corners, inside closets, along doors and wood/vinyl/concrete, inside trash cans, in the roof line, in attic vents, and behind/under appliances and other areas frequently visited by rodents.
  • Rub marks: Rats and mice have oily fur that leaves marks when they rub up against surfaces. These are often found along the baseboards, under door frames, in crawl space screens, around exterior door/window frames, and in pipeways and cables entering walls/ceilings.
  • Droppings: Rodent droppings are brown, less than an inch in length, with pointed ends. Rodents also leave shiny urine marks that are visible on some surfaces.
  • Footprints/tracks: Rodents leave tracks as they scurry about. They can be identified by the front 4-toed print and the hind 5-toed print.
  • Burrows: Rodent burrows are typically found in earthen banks, under concrete slabs and under walls.
  • Entry points: Rodents only need a hole less than the size of a quarter in diameter in order to get inside. Evidence of structural/sanitation deficiencies conducive to activity or neighboring structures is a common warning sign that entry points are present.
  • Noise: reported noises in walls/ceilings but no other signs of any pest or wildlife activity could indicate rodents activity inside.
  • Sightings: Sightings of rodents usually occur when they are mostly active during night or early morning and late afternoon. Seeing a live or dead rodent inside your home is a certain sign that more are nearby.

If you’ve noticed these warning signs around your home, contact us immediately for help. During your initial inspection, the presence of these factors will help us determine where rodents are most active throughout your home so that we can isolate them and remove them from the home as quickly and effectively as possible. After the inspection, the technician will explain his findings and can usually provide treatment the same day.
