Our Stinging Insect Control Services

When stinging insects get the best of you, contact the professionals here at Pest Czar. Our stinging insect service will safely eliminate both stinging insects and, in most cases, the nests. Our technicians are highly trained and knowledgeable and have the proper equipment to handle your stinging insect problem.

Our expert team can treat your Annapolis home for numerous stinging insects, including the following:

Yellow Jackets

Yellow jackets are known for their yellow and black coloration. They have segmented, hairless bodies, and distinct, thin waists. When at rest, their wings fold laterally against their bodies. Yellow jackets can be fiercely territorial, leading your family to get stung should they make a nest in your yard, or inside your home.

When the nest is in the ground, we can treat the nest and dig it out given that there are no obstructions like roots or hazards.

Pest Czar also treats yellow jacket problems in exterior siding or in the interior walls, primarily with dust and sprays that can be applied through the cracks where the yellow jackets are entering.

Removing the nest behind walls or siding may not always be possible, but Pest Czar will discuss the options and give recommendations while the technician is there for your treatment.

European Hornets

European hornets are long and full-bodied with brown with yellow stripes on their abdomen, though their faces are pale in color. European hornets are the only true species of hornet found living in the United States. Their stings are both very painful and can even be life-threatening in large numbers.

European hornet nests are papery-looking and often found in voids in structures.

Pest Czar has tools that can reach into voids and up to areas 30 feet high.

Bald-Faced Hornets

Bald-faced hornets are black in color except for an off-white color pattern on their faces, at the end of their abdomen, and on their thorax. Their nests are often found in the tree line near homes they affect.

Their papery looking nests are often found exposed on the exterior of homes under roofs and gutters, and also hanging freely from tree branches or inside bushes and shrubs.

Pest Czar has tools that can reach into voids and up to areas 30 feet high. Bald-faced hornets can occasionally re-build nests in the same spot or different area on your property even if the nest is fully or mostly removed. Follow-up services may be needed.

Paper Wasps

Paper wasps are black or brown, and have yellow or orange markings along their bodies. They have pinched waists and long, thin legs that dangle below their bodies when flying. Their bodies. Their wings are grayish. Paper wasps often attach their nests to the roofs or deck of homes they infest.

Mud Daubers

Mud daubers are a large, black to metallic blue in coloration depending on the species. Mud Daubers are best known for the nests they create along walls in areas where they infest, which resemble tubes that run down the length of the structure.

Cicada Killers and Honeybees

Cicada killers and honeybees are considered beneficial insects, so Pest Czar generally does not recommend treatment. If you have honeybees, please contact a local beekeeper or apiary who can safely relocate the hives.

Carpenter Bees

Carpenter bees are large in size and black in coloration, causing them to often be mistaken for bumble bees. However, carpenter bees have smooth shiny, black abdomens, unlike bumble bees, whose abdomens are yellow and hairy. The other main difference between the two is that while bumble bees are an important presence outside, carpenter bees are a wood-destroying pest that can severely damage your home, fence, shed, or deck if they get to it.

Contact us to set up a free inspection. We can normally do a service on the same day as long as you approve the quote. Generally, a follow-up service is needed to fill holes, and an ongoing service is recommended.
